Act 47 – Residency Verification

Dear Parent/Guardian:

The Wyoming Valley West School District is writing to inform you of important residency verification requirements for families residing in our district whose child(ren) are enrolled in a cyber-charter school.

Pursuant to Act 47 Section 1748-A (Cyber Charter Enrollment and Notification), the parent or guardian of a student enrolled in a cyber-charter school must submit proof of the student’s continued residency using the Charter School Enrollment Form below.

This documentation must be provided by November 1 and March 1 of each year to:

1. The cyber charter school, and

2. The student’s school district of residence

Required Documentation

In addition to completing the Charter School Enrollment Form, a parent or guardian must provide a document containing their name and current address. Acceptable documentation includes one of the following:

  • An active residential lease agreement or mortgage statement (no more than 3 months old)
  • A bank statement (no more than 3 months old)
  • A utility or internet bill (no more than 3 months old)
  • A tax bill (no more than 3 months old)
  • An insurance document (no more than 3 months old)
  • A valid vehicle registration
  • A valid driver’s license or Pennsylvania Department of Transportation identification card
  • A piece of mail sent by the federal or state government (e.g., benefits information, voter registration, or tax documents)

All documentation should be emailed to act47@wvwsd.org or delivered in-person to WVW Central Office by March 1, 2026. If the required documentation is not received by March 1, 2026, the District will initiate a residential dispute in accordance with applicable laws and policies. Following the ten (10) day residential dispute window, your student will be withdrawn from Wyoming Valley West School District enrollment if residency cannot be verified.
