The state meeting of the PA Junior Academy of Science was held mid-May on the main campus of Penn State University, State College, PA.  The Wyoming Valley West School District had ten (10) students present projects, sponsored by Mrs. Maria Konopke. The students qualified, based on the regional meeting in March.  Fifteen hundred plus students from over 200 state-wide schools were in attendance.

The following WVW students earned state level awards in the mathematics category:

First Row:  Payton Cardillo (8th) 2^nd Award; Savannah Rafuse Franco (7th) 2^nd Award; Parker Cardillo (8th) 2^nd Award; Yara Khatib (7th) 2^nd Award; and Meghan Singer (8th) 1^st Award;

Second Row:  Zach Konopke (12th) one 1^st Award, one 2^nd Award, and a 4-year State Perseverance Award; Madelyn Evan (11th) 1^st Award; Jade McKenna (12th) 2^nd Award;  Rebecca Bealla (11th) 2^nd Award, and a partial PSU College of Engineering Scholarship; and Emily Bolan (9th) 1^st Award.
