The state meeting of the PA Junior Academy of Science was held mid-May on the main campus of Penn State University, State College, PA. The Wyoming Valley West School District had ten (10) students present projects, sponsored by Mrs. Maria Konopke.

The state meeting of the PA Junior Academy of Science was held mid-May on the main campus of Penn State University, State College, PA.  The Wyoming Valley West School District had ten (10) students present projects, sponsored by Mrs. Maria Konopke. The students qualified, based on the regional meeting in March.  Fifteen hundred plus students from over 200 state-wide schools were in attendance.

 

The following WVW students earned state level awards in the mathematics category:

 

First Row:  Payton Cardillo (8th) 2nd Award; Savannah Rafuse Franco (7th) 2nd Award; Parker Cardillo (8th) 2nd Award; Yara Khatib (7th) 2nd Award; and Meghan Singer (8th) 1st Award;

 

Second Row:  Zach Konopke (12th) one 1st Award, one 2nd Award, and a 4-year State Perseverance Award; Madelyn Evan (11th) 1st Award; Jade McKenna (12th) 2nd Award;  Rebecca Bealla (11th) 2nd Award, and a partial PSU College of Engineering Scholarship; and Emily Bolan (9th) 1st Award.
