On March 2nd, our district participated for the 10th year in the PA Junior Academy of Science. Over 600 students in Grades 7 through 12 from 51 different schools in seven counties participated in the daylong event held at Wilkes University. In addition to individual awards, our district was also recognized for having one of the highest percentages of first award recipients among all the schools. Click to see results.

The program teaches middle and high school students, teachers, and administrators how to recognize warning signs and signals, especially within social media, of individuals who may be a threat to themselves or others and Say Something to a trusted adult and actively participate in maintaining a safe environment.

The Wyoming Valley West School District participated for the 9th year in the PA Junior Academy of Science. The Regional Meeting was held in March and the State Meeting was just held in May at the main campus of Penn State. The students pictured participated in the mathematics category and earned the listed awards.
The Wyoming Valley West School District intends to request approval from the Pennyslvania Deptartment of Education to seek a referendum exception for the 2018/19 budget.
