  • SUPERINTENDENT

    Wyoming Valley West School District (approx. 5,000 students; six schools) is located in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. The district serves residents in nine communities in the heart of NEPA (Northeastern PA).     Job Description:

     

      • Oversee and supervise the Director of Buildings and Grounds.
      • Plan, assign, and manage the duties of the Director of Buildings and Grounds.
      • Train, supervise and evaluate the Director of Buildings of Grounds.
      • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with sub-contractors, and others.
      • Manage and oversee the construction, renovation, maintenance and repair of buildings and facilities, in addition to the development of district long range strategic plans.
      • Meet with the Director of Buildings and Grounds and building administrators monthly to update and assess building needs.
      • Oversee the management of the Electronic Work Order System.
      • Oversee the Director of Buildings and Grounds operation of the Time Trak System.
      • Prepare the yearly budget in consultation with the business manager and District administrative team.
      • Oversee capital facilities planning, including management of current and future construction projects.
      • Implement a Preventive Maintenance Program for District facilities, buildings, and grounds.
      • Attend all Buildings and Grounds Committee meetings.
      • Attend all Monthly School Board meetings.
      • Oversee the procurement and delivery of supplies and materials needed to maintain the facilities, buildings, and grounds.
      • Assist in the hiring, training and supervision of building, grounds, and maintenance.
      • Coordinate with the Director of Building and Grounds the requests of the facilities and usage form.
      • Meet with the Safety Committee to ensure that all safety requirements are met.
      • Respond to emergency matters during off-duty hours.
      • Perform other job duties as directed by the Superintendent of Schools and/or the Business Manager.

    Preferred Education and Experience:

      • Bachelor’s or associate degree in related field.
      • Prior experience in Operations and Facilities Management.
      • Licenses and or certifications related to facilities and operations management preferred.
      • Valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
      • All required applicable clearances.

    Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

      • Proficiency in applicable computer systems and software.
      • Knowledge of the School Code and other applicable laws.
      • Knowledge of applicable Health and Safety regulations.

Current Part-Time Openings

  • Personal Care Assistant - Applicant must be responsible for a special needs student in an educational setting and follow the educational plan for the student. Applicant will assist their assigned student to and from their mode of transportation and at times accompany their student to and from school, cafeteria, bathroom facilities and community based places along with the personal care and hygiene of the student.

    *Applicant must possess current First Aid/CPR certification.
    *Applicant may be assigned to a student whose placement is out of the District.
    *Applicant is required by the PDE to complete 20 hours of paraprofessional development each school year.
    *Applicant must be able to lift over 50 lbs. and possess a valid PA Driver’s License. 

    Cleaning Person/ Part-time – Applicant must be knowledgeable in the performance of general cleaning duties.  Daily duties would include operating a vacuum cleaner, using a dry mop and wet mop; cleaning windows, stairs and railings, cleaning desks using a sanitizing cleaner, dusting and polishing furniture; cleaning lavatories and fixtures, cleaning flooring, walls and doors; align desks and chairs.  Must be able to take direction from head custodian, custodian and/or matron and perform other duties as assigned.

    Classroom Aide – Applicant must be knowledgeable of duties of assisting teachers in a classroom setting. These duties would be working with students of various ages and helping students through various levels of academic work by the direction of the classroom teacher.  Duties may consist of filing students’ paperwork, preparing paperwork for class by use of copiers, scanners, computers and printers, as advised by the classroom teacher, and any other help that would be needed on a daily basis.
